Description
ABOUT:
This women-produced lot comes from the Hezya AMCOS in Tanzania’s Mbozi region, where nearly 300 smallholders grow Bourbon, N39, Kent, and local varieties. AMCOS (Agricultural Marketing Cooperative Societies) manage 95% of Tanzania’s coffee production, and smallholders must be members to access support for production, processing, storage, transport, marketing, and government aid. The Hezya group is part of the Usawa Kahawa Project, established in 2021 to promote gender equity in coffee. Through the project, women receive training in cultivation and financial decision-making, supported by local gender champions. Hezya AMCOS also hosts a Shamba Darasa Model Farm, showcasing best practices and empowering women to lead by example. This lot represents both high-quality production and meaningful community-driven change.
